Building a Learning Community

A Chicago farmers market

Fresh Taste staff facilitate opportunities for members to learn from each other and from experts in the field. At two half-day meetings each year, members compare notes about individual foundation grantmaking and what we’re seeing in the field. Staff also prepare a bi-monthly digest of food system news to help members keep current on the latest developments.

Additionally, Fresh Taste members and staff work together to organize at least two learning journeys each year within the Chicago foodshed to deepen and expand our collective understanding of the food system. These learning journeys range from four hours to two days and provide members with the opportunity to dive deep into issues they find compelling. Past learning journeys have taken us from the center of Detroit to the heart of rural Illinois.  View photos and descriptions from Fresh Taste learning journeys.
